ATTITUDE APPAREL BECOMES TITLE SPONSOR OF COMPETITIONPLUS.COM IN 2010

DSA_5563Leading internet drag racing magazine CompetitionPlus.com announced today that Attitude Apparel will be its title sponsor in 2010.

Rodger Brogdon, owner of Attitude Apparel, recently purchased the t-shirt company with plans to exceed being more than just a trailer selling souvenirs on the NHRA’s Manufacturer’s Midway. The successful businessman and driver of the Charter Communications Pro Stocker plans to advance the company into the extreme sports lifestyle industry during 2010.  

Brogdon believes aligning his program with one of the most popular drag racing news websites provides the perfect starting point.

The 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series  Awards Ceremony took place Monday, Nov. 16, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in West Los Angeles and saluted the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series  champions and other winners.

$20,000-TO-WIN SCSN V ON TAP FOR THIS WEEKEND AT LVMS

The annual Street Car Super Nationals (www.streetcarsupernationals.com) is an East-vs.-West shootout between the nation’s wildest, unlimited 220-mph doorslammers. This year, a record 53 cars are entered for the $20,000-to-win heads-up Pro Street finale. The event will take place this weekend (Nov. 19-22) at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

PRUDHOMME'S TEAM CONTRIBUTED TO SCHUMACHER CHAMPIONSHIP

Don Schumacher described his relationship behind the scenes of the public eye with Don Prudhomme as one that has had its moments.

As fate would have it, the rival team owners found an unofficial alliance during the final event of the 2009 season. It was Spencer Massey, Prudhomme’s award-winning rookie, who made Tony Schumacher a seven-time Top Fuel champion by stopping Larry Dixon in the second round of the NHRA Auto Club Finals.

PAT MUSI HEADED TO VEGAS LOADED FOR BEAR

1114091623Pat Musi is going to this weekend’s Pacific Street Car Association Street Car Super Nationals in Las Vegas with enough determination to sink a battleship. The Pro Street drag racing icon has a few tricks up his sleeve, even to the point the competition will see him as a lesser man, literally.

Musi has lost 42 pounds over the course of the last few months and that combination paired with a brand new lightweight Jerry Bickel-built Dodge Stratus powered by a 903-inch, EFI-equipped engine has him brimming with excitement.

“I plan to be 198 by the time I get to Vegas,” said Musi, who was already down to 201. “No one can believe it. They think I’m smoking crack or something.”

PMRA CROWNS CHAMPIONS AT BANQUET

For 2009, the Fifth Annual Champions Banquet to honor the drivers and teams of the Pro Modified Racing Association was held in conjunction with the First Annual Champions Night for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts.
 
Master of ceremonies Larry Satchell guided the sold out, full-to-capacity room at the Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario through the proceedings, which was highlighted by the recognition of the Top Five finishers in each series.

WINTER ROD AND SPEED BENEFIT SHOW RETURNS IN JANUARY

The Winter Rod and Speed Benefit Car Show is slated for Saturday, January 23 at the Linn County Expo Center in Albany, Oregon.

This year’s beneficiary is Cherokee Pizano. Cherokee is a 14 year old girl from Salem, Oregon that has Osteo Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer and is currently getting radiation treatments at Dornbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland. Cherokee along with her mother is also homeless.

The show could be the biggest in its three year history with the original cars from the movie American Graffiti, the $100,000 “Judge” GTO, the classic Veney’s Vega funny car, and the debut of the new Ashwell Racing Mustang funny car. In addition, there will musclecars, street rods, custom trucks and classics.

NMCA CHAMP COUGHLIN LOOKING FOR JACKPOT IN VEGAS

TROY_0912-01027A month after capturing the world title in the National Muscle Car Association, Pro Street driver Troy Coughlin is ready to race for big bucks and bragging rights at this weekend's Street Car Super Nationals V presented by Chassisworks at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Coughlin will face more than 40 of the top drivers in the world in a classic East vs. West Shootout behind the wheel of his championship-winning JEGS.com Pontiac GXP. His racecar should be quick, as it won this year's NMCA national events in Chicago and Charlotte and recently reset the NMCA class record to 6.277 seconds at 225.08 mph.

GARLITS TO BACK EUROPEAN RACER CARTER

European Top Fuel racer Andy Carter will team with drag racing's Big Daddy Don Garlits next season on a one-race deal.

Carter will run backing from Don Garlits anbd the Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., March 11 - 14, 2009.
