WHY NOT NORWALK?

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - CHANGES ARE A'COMIN

Why not mention the improvements being made at Summit Racing Equipment
Motorsports Park? - Drake Simmons, Wellington, Ohio

Drake,

We featured tracks that were on the tour in 2006 and prior. Norwalk Raceway Park was still technically an IHRA track. Not to be left out, we featured Norwalk in a feature story back in August. - NORWALK SWITCH. - Bobby Bennett, Publisher

BRING ON A/FUEL FUNNY CARS

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - WHAT IF? with Dale Wilson

I really like the ideas of the stock eliminator grouping.  I come from an era
that had such a thing and the people and their cars [Monster Mash!] involved were
as well known as the pros.

But the real reason I am writing is the last
lines in his article.  In every poll I have seen, when I have talked to a bunch
of fans and even talking to racers the overwhelming majority [at least 75%]
want an A/Fuel funny car class.  I know the HRAs on either side don't want the
headaches but the amount of cars that would be built for that class would be
amazing.  I would suggest that you only limit the size of the fuel pump to a
spec pump and one Mag [any kind] and displacement and then leave it alone.
Don't go messing with it, just let them run and see what shakes out.  You would
have an instant fan favorite class and it would also develop into other
circuits and shows to race because it would be way cheaper than blown Nitro to
book in and the crowd would get a dose of nitro. If I were king for a
day... - Jim Burke, Cortland, IL

ALREADY AN A/FUEL CLASS

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - WHAT IF? with Dale Wilson

To answer Dale's question: Why don't NHRA allow A-Fuel FC's?  Because they want
to have a Blown Alky Category; How many Blown dragsters do you see anymore?  If
someone wants to run A-fuel they have a class, for those who like Blown Alcohol
they have a class! - Joe Sherwood, Albuquerque, NM

FORCE HAS NO WORRIES

I don't think John has to worry about Castrol,Ford or any sponsor going
anywhere. Everyone felt sad for Capps, but like Force says, it ain't over till I
say it's over! - John White

SAVE THE FUEL, GIVE IT TO THE HARLEYS

I know the vrods won the championship again this year, but why shouldn't they
160 cu in against 101 cu in and they just finally did that this past year, why
don't they save fuel and give the HDs the trophy for the year, it's the only pro
class that has an engine differential  so how come they don't give Ford a larger
engine size so they could be competitive in Pro Stock? - Richard Nichols

THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - Restoring the Northwind, Part 3

As a
middle aged drag racing fan (56), I can't help but feel a little tug on my
nostalgic heart each time another front engined fueler is resurrected from the
"bone yard" grave.  What a magical piece of drag racing history.  Thanks for
giving us the blow by blow of the entire job. Please pass along our thanks to
all of the "crew" involved with this wonderful project. She'll be "cackling"
before you know it! - David L. Gutierrez

IMPROPER CREDIT?

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - Awash in a sea of ink

I do agree with you, I have been a
fan and sometimes bracket racer for over 40 years. However I notice in your
article that people outside the NHRA are the ones who have done most of the
work. NHRA drag racing gets very little exposure. For the last 15 years or so I
have been able to find many oval track races on TV every weekend, today I think
you can find oval track racing on TV 24/7. Your are hard pressed to find a drag
race other than the standard national event coverage. Then the NHRA coverage
starting time is pushed back, and fequently shortened, for every minor
competition that comes along, like college baseball, womens softball, the
national cheer leading competition etc, tell me which of these event get more of
an audiance. What realy upsets me about this is that it has been this way for
over 40 years. Obviously NHRA isn't trying to improve the situation. NHRA
appears to be a top heavy, complacent organization with frequent fits of
arrogance and seem to have little interest promoting the sport we love, the
attitude seems to be someone else should do it. Today NHRA seems to be all about
the dollar, for NHRA not for the racer. - Merritt Snyder

MISSING THE HOLLYWOOD TICKET?

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - Awash in a sea of ink

While NHRA may have made some huge strides mediawise in '06, far too many people have NO idea what professional drag racing is!  At Pomona about 5 years ago, I ran into a
character (Richard the Scary Stagehand) from the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  We
talked for about 10 minutes, I asked why doesn't Jay do a piece at the track or
something?  He said Nobody has ever invited him!  With Pomona's close proximity
to Hollywood I think NHRA blowing a Golden Opportunity media wise.  The Celebrity
races they used to hold back in the 80's-early 90's were awesome. Why were they
discontinued???   And the real tale of the Media's success with NHRA in '06 has
to be the TV ratings?   Anyone? - Joe Sherwood

NHRA IS UNDERRATED

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - Awash in a sea of ink

I agree they are doing a good
job. Quite a bit of non-traditional exposure this year for sure and thats gonna
be the key I believe. NHRA is way overshadowed by nascar which is sad since is
it's way overated and NHRA is way underated. - Tim Marsh
