AN ALLEY RETURN?

According to numerous sources, the PRO Board meeting at Norwalk on Friday covered a number of major topics, with there being heated discussion on at least two of them.  Kenny Bernstein will leave his post as the organization’s leader at the end of the season, and is apparently trying to install former NHRA Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Racing Director Ray Alley in his stead.  Alley has a long time personal relationship with Bernstein, and most recently worked for him as the original tuner of the Monster Dodge, a job that failed to last longer than two or three races.  The PRO Board members seem divided on the choice of Alley as their new leader, with some openly believing that it will be a step backwards in terms of leadership abilities and a willingness to tackle the difficult subjects with NHRA leadership.

Alley’s name was not the only one discussed, as CompetitionPlus.com has heard that former NHRA employee Chad Head’s name was also bandied about.  We’re also hearing that his father, Funny Car driver Jim, immediately advised his son to stay where he is with the IRL.
