GOODGUYS BACK IN DRAG RACING

After a one year hiatus, The Goodguys Vintage Drag Racing Association is back in
the event business.

Goodguys will hold three premier vintage drag racing
events this summer and fall throughout the Midwest beginning with the 20th Hot
Rod Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis June 6-8. The racing action
continues September 5-7 with the 7th Blue Suede Cruise at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Rounding out the Goodguys 2008 vintage drag racing event lineup is the 1st
Goodguys Nostalgia Nationals, October 17-19 at historic Beech Bend
Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

After staging the country’s premier vintage drag races
for twelve years on the west coast, Goodguys is looking forward to bringing new
events to the Midwest. “It’s new territory for
us,” said Goodguys President Marc Meadors. “The Bader family at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio
has indicated we should expect a great turnout of racers to the 7th
Blue Suede Cruise this September. We’re also looking forward to staging the
first-ever Goodguys/VRA event at Beech
Bend Raceway Park
in Bowling Green, KY. We’ve heard for years what a great
facility it is and are excited to start new traditions at each of these historic
venues. Of course the Hot Rod Nationals in Indy always rocks. It’s going to be a
great year and we look forward to giving vintage drag racers all over the
country some quality events to come race at.”

MCMILLEN ON THE RADIO

Oh, Baby... Help me, help me, help me. I need YOU to the staging
lanes!

The sound of those words will ring clear in the minds of those
that have ever been to an IHRA race and had the privilege of listening to
Staging Stevie Letempt call "play-by-play" for Sportsman Racing. No one does it
with more enthusiasm than Steve Letempt.

Putting Staging Steve and the
"Gator Man" Terry McMillen on the same radio show this Wednesday night at 8PM
EST is something the world may not be ready for yet.

CANNON WINS WAR STORIES

1-14-08warstoriesfinal.jpgThere once was a time when Scotty Cannon ruled the Pro Modified
division with an iron fist. He’s since found a new playground to bully.

The six-time Pro Modified champion from Lyman, South Carolina handily
defeated Roy Hill in the final round of the Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com
Inaugural War Stories Showdown.

The objective of this unique competition was for individual to tell a
war story, gain more votes than their opponent in the balloting. A
reader vote seeded the sixteen competitors participating and the
standard NHRA ladder paired them. Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com attracted
58,962 readers for the duration of the event.

HAWLEY DISCUSSES RETURN

Former Funny Car champion
turned drag racing school instructor could test in Phoenix

All it took was a hint
from team owner Mike Ashley in an interview to start the fires of speculation
to burning.

“It's most likely going to be Frank Hawley driving
for now,” Ashley said. “Won't that be exciting to see Frank Hawley racing John
Force again?”

Hawley, a two-time NHRA
Funny Car champion under the tuning of Austin Coil, could possibly assume the
driving chores for a second Funny Car team under the Gotham City Racing
umbrella of Ashley and Roger Burgess.

Hawley says such a
proposition would be exciting, although it’s not an official deal.

TUTTLE SPEAKS OUT

Dexter Tuttle has been on the receiving end of Evan
Knoll’s drag racing benevolence and is very appreciative.

If Knoll had not stepped up early in the 2006 season,
J.R. Todd, Tuttle’s unheralded Top Fuel driver, might not have been the
unanimous rookie of the year selection.
Todd won three times, becoming a fan and media favorite along the
way.

It was a storybook ending to a season that was supposed
to last only 10-14 races.

“We weren’t chasing an Evan Knoll sponsorship, he just called us,” Tuttle
recalled. “He had a good relationship with (then crew chief) Jimmy Walsh and
Evan called after we didn’t qualify at Phoenix – one of the two times we didn’t
qualify in two years.  He said, ‘What can
I do to help you,’ and that’s how our deal started.”

The Skull Shine/Torco Racing Fuels sponsorship continued
through the 2007 season, with Todd winning five races overall and finishing
eighth and seventh respectively in NHRA/Powerade Series standings.

ASHLEY SITS, HAWLEY TO DRIVE?

Funny Car driver Mike Ashley told Torco's CompetitionPlus, com that
he plans to limit his driving participation in 2008 to that of piloting
his Pro Modified Camaro in partnership with Roger Burgess.

Ashley
said the demands of business and his longstanding desire to spend more
time with his business has inspired him to travel this path. He's most
likely looking to Frank Hawley as his successor.

"I think it's
time to concentrate more on my business, my family and my life," Ashley
said. "I plan to run only the Pro Modified this season."

BECKMAN DRIVING VALVOLINE/MTS FC IN 2008

Jack Beckman returns to the Don Schumacher Racing team for his second full
season in the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, driving the Dodge Charger
R/T Funny Car sponsored by Valvoline and Mail Terminal Services.

A DSR
major associate sponsor in 2007, Valvoline comes on board for the first time as
a primary backer of the car that holds the national top speed record of 333.66
mph. Mail Terminal Services, a primary sponsor in 2007, returns for the second
straight season with DSR, this time as a major associate sponsor. Valvoline will
also be an associate sponsor on all the DSR team vehicles.

"By stepping
up our support of Don Schumacher Racing and Jack Beckman, Valvoline rounds out
its NHRA program in a big way," said Rob Stravitz, vice president for global
brands for Valvoline. "Valvoline now has a bigger presence with a stellar Funny
Car team and driver and we will continue to push the technology envelope through
our technical partnership with DSR."

Mail Terminal Services' president
and CEO Rodger Comstock, along with wife Karen, will continue the popular "Mail
from Home" program throughout the 2008 season. This program allows fans and
competitors an opportunity to sign unique cards in the DSR hospitality area and
at a kiosk within the U.S. Army Racing Zone at NHRA national events, with
messages to the U.S. troops overseas, which are then distributed free to
war-zone camps by MTS. The number of postcards distributed by MTS to war-zone
troops reached the 90,000 mark by the end of 2007.

HAGAN'S NEW FUNNY CAR

Matt Hagan Racing is proud to debut the Monte Carlo SS Nitro Funny Car
that Matt Hagan will pilot in the IHRA Knoll Gas Motorsports Nitro Jam
series this season.

"We're really looking forward to the IHRA Nitro series this year," said
Matt Hagan. "As this sport continues to grow it's going to need a lot
of young teams with marketing appeal to increase the fan base, which
will in turn increase sponsorship opportunities. I think we have a lot
to contribute to the sport as we grow our program."

"We've assembled a veteran team of Funny Car crew members, and I'm very
excited as a rookie Nitro driver to have such a great team behind me,"
said Hagan.
