ADRL WORLD FINALS TO FEATURE MONSTER TRUCK MATCH RACE

Halloween will still be a week away, but monsters will be set loose at the Texas Motorplex Oct. 23-24, when “BIGFOOT,” the biggest name in monster truck history, takes on the equally intimidating “Snake-Bite” in a special, eighth-mile drag racing grudge match during the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V, the championship-deciding season ender for the National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL).

NHRA MOBILE APPLICATION LAUNCHED

NHRA officially launched, today, NHRA Mobile, a mobile application that will bring live racing action from all 24 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events into the palms of NHRA fans’ hands around the globe.          

NHRA Mobile will be anchored by the live timing and scoring that will give fans access to real-time results, but it will also deliver news, blogs, track overviews, race schedules, team reports, point standings, and much, much more.

EDWARDS' WIN MAKES HIS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD NEARLY INSURMOUNTABLE

Break out the engraving tool and write the check, Mike Edwards has done everything a Pro Stock ps_winnerdriver can do in what he rightly characterizes as close as he has ever been “to living our dream”. Waiting at the end of the rainbow is a mighty fine trophy and a check for $250,000.

Edwards looked straight ahead and said, “Can you believe it?

“It is a near perfect day. It's unbelievable what I did here today; what my team did here today.”

Forever humble, Edwards smiles when he hears the accomplishments read off, but when asked the questions his humble nature quickly takes over.

“I am the same old redneck I will always be. I am going to enjoy it while I can.”

COMMISSO LEAVES VMP WITH NHRA PRO MOD RECORD

Behind the wheel of a new '63 Corvette Pro Mod, R2B2 Racing driver Raymond Commisso reset the record for quickest ET at 5.817 seconds in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx at the NHRA Virginia Nationals.
 
Commisso's record-setting run came in the quarterfinals when he faced teammate and friend Melanie Troxel, who said: "It's always a bitter-sweet situation racing a teammate, but when you have a big team, a competitive team sometimes it's going to happen. I'm really happy for Ray, because I know holding on to his record was really important to him, especially given the fact that he's struggled to get down the track so much in recent events."

WORSHAM, VENABLES AND ELLIOT CONNECT FOR WINNING COMBINATION

After winning back to back events, St. Louis and Bristol, Del Worsham nfc_winnerand the Al-Anabi Toyota Funny Car had not been past the quarterfinals until this weekend. Worsham worked his way past Matt Hagan, Jeff Arend, Ron  Capps and then Tim Wilkerson to take the win in the Virginia NHRA Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park, the 25th of his career.

This is unreal,” said Worsham. “I had nothing but trust in these guys.”

BERNSTEIN: THIS WIN WAS FOR US

winner's circle in the NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. Bernstein's last win came at Brainerd in 2007, 51 races ago.

“I can't say enough about our team,” said Bernstein. “With that long of a drought is would have been easy to get down on themselves and not really get out of that funk. We knew eventually we would knock down the door and get that win again. We were really fortunate to have a great car today.”

NHRA DIV. 4 BRACKET FINALS ELIMINATIONS RAINED OUT

Rain has washed out eliminations for the day at the NHRA South Central Division Summit Racing Series Finals at Texas Motorplex.  Racing will pick up again Monday morning at 9.

Each of the five categories got through first round of eliminations and racers in Super Pro, Pro and No-E Quick ran two rounds of eliminations before the rain started.

Competitors from NHRA member tracks across the division are on hand running for team and individual honors and a share of the purse worth nearly $30,000.
