From the moment Dylan Wynefsky climbed behind the wheel of his Junior Dragster, his mission was evident. He wanted to race nitro like his father, Robert, a Fuel Altered racer.

The second-generation Wynefsky accomplished this as he succeeded his dad behind the wheel of the altered. Now, he's poised to go to the next level.

"We're building a big show car, and we tossed around the idea of just renting a seat, and then we were thinking about building a nostalgia Funny Car, but we ended up building the big show car, but after talking with Johnny [West]," Winefsky explained. "There's more exposure, more TV time, but at the end of the day, you really have nothing to show for it if, other than a couple pictures or something, and you can choose when you want to run it and how many times you're going to run it. Where with renting a seat, you're not in charge of that."

Winefsky has his eyes set on a fuel Funny Car he says will debut at the Las Vegas national event.

"We have the car now and it's sitting at Johnny West's shop, getting all the clutch management stuff done," Winefsky said, adding he will likely run a Toyota body. 

The effort will be a totally independent effort without aligning with a larger team, as many do. 

"We plan to have Corey Lee make a couple of shakedown runs in it and get my license that following Monday," Winefsky said. 

Until then, he plans to run the family's fuel altered at the Bakersfield March Meet, with select event events peppered in, including a Fuel Altered show in Albuquerque, NM.

"We will start off by running three or four Funny Car events in 2025," Winefsky explained. "I'd like to try five or six."
