LAGANA FAMILY SCHEDULED TO HAVE TWO-CAR TF TEAM AT NORWALK

The Lagana Family Racing team is rolling out a two-car Top Fuel team this weekend.

Dom Lagana is listed as the driver of the one of his family’s dragster’s on NHRA’s entry list for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, Nov. 23-26. Lagana, however, confirmed to CompetitionPlus.com Wednesday night Tripp Tatum will be driving the main Lagana dragster in place of him.

“Tripp drove our car at Gainesville (March 17-20), and this was a race planned for him,” Lagana said. “Maybe two or three weeks ago there were only 14 or 15 cars on the (entry list for Norwalk), and I just threw my name on the list to keep the Top Fuel class going for NHRA. We have two dragsters and our shop is actually just a few miles from the track in Norwalk.”

Then, according to a post by Leah Pritchett on her Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, she will be piloting a second Lagana family-owned dragster at Norwalk, which Lagana also confirmed. The last time the second Lagana dragster competed was in June of 2015 at a match race in Canada.

Pritchett had the following comments on her Facebook page Wednesday about the opportunity she has this weekend:

“In straight ninja fashion the @lagana_racing team is pulling out their second Top Fueler for Norwalk and I’m the lucky one getting to wheel it this weekend, even if we are on a limited run schedule… keeping this top 10 dream charged up.”

Pritchett also ran a dragster fielded by the Lagana Family at the Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, N.C., April 22-24. She qualified No. 11, but lost in the first round.

Pritchett most recently competed in the Thunder Valley Nationals June 19 in Bristol, Tenn., running a Top Fueler out of the Don Schumacher Racing stable. She qualified No. 5, but lost a close race to Richie Crampton in the first round. Pritchett is 10th in the point standings – five points in front of 11th-place Terry McMillen.
Bristol was the third of four scheduled Mello Yello events for Pritchett with DSR; her next is planned to be the U.S. Nationals over Labor Day Weekend.

“Leah’s working hard to try and find some deals to keep going,” Lagana said.

Lagana, meanwhile, has competed in one Top Fuel race this season at the Summernationals June 9-12 in Englishtown, N.J. He qualified No. 6 and beat Clay Millican in round one before being upended in the second round by Shawn Langdon. Tatum will be behind the wheel of the dragster Lagana drove at Englishtown at Norwalk. Tatum also drove this dragster at Gainesville and qualified No. 13 and beat Pritchett in the first round and then lost to eventual race winner Brittany Force in round two.

“The dragster ran great when I drove it at Englishtown and I want to keep it up,” Lagana said.
