IT'S THE NEW DRAG RACING: ROLL DRAG

JEGS GETS INVOLVED - JEGS Automotive, Inc. will be an official partner during the inaugural season of competition for the IRRA that kicks off Saturday, April 28 at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) in Jupiter, Florida.

The IRRA is the world’s first sanctioning body for the sport of roll drag racing. Roll racing has become a world-wide phenomenon. Instead of starting from a complete stop like traditional drag racing, the heads-up race is started with both cars rolling at an agreed speed.

“JEGS is known for delivering high performance, on and off the race track, and we are pleased to be a part of this inaugural season of competition with the International Roll Racing Association,” said Jeffrey R. Hennion, chief executive officer of JEGS Automotive, Inc.

That Racing Channel, which has over 750,000 subscribers on YouTube, will produce pre and post-race videos giving companies even more exposure through the series.

The International Roll Racing Ass’n (IRRA) will make its debut April 28 at Palm Beach Int’l Raceway in Florida. Instead of starting from a complete stop like traditional drag racing, a roll drag heads-up race starts with both cars rolling at an agreed speed (40 mph).

The International Roll Racing Ass’n (IRRA), a sanctioning body for the sport of roll drag racing, will make its debut April 28 at Palm Beach Int’l Raceway in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Instead of starting from a complete stop like traditional drag racing, a roll drag heads-up race starts with both cars rolling at an agreed speed (40 mph). There are said to be over 20 roll racing organizations or events worldwide.

IRRA organizers point out that, with roll racing, less stress is put on vehicle components, which can be less costly than traditional forms of drag racing.

“The IRRA gives the average person the opportunity to be a professional racer,” IRRA President Christopher Harris said. “For years, many have dreamed [of] being a professional racer, and due to the high cost of owning a dedicated race car, those dreams didn’t come true. The IRRA now provides that opportunity.”

Racers will compete in four events in 2018 to earn points and be crowned the champion of their class at the end of the season.
