The IHRA was forced to postpone first day qualifying for the Nitro Jam Mardi Gras Nationals due to rain and wet conditions. Rain fell until late morning and the drag strip could not be adequately prepared for the IHRA’s 200-plus mile-per-hour pro classes. The entire show – two rounds of qualifying and three rounds of eliminations -- will be run on Saturday, March 14. Spectator gates will open at 10 a.m. Saturday’s weather forecast calls for a high of 77 degrees and sun. 

“We tried to get today’s pro qualifying sessions started for the race teams and Nitro Jam fans, but we had so much rain over the past few days we could not prepare the track conducive to safe racing,” said IHRA President Scott Gardner oN Friday afternoon. “ 

Revised schedule for the IHRA Nitro Jam Mardi Gras Nationals:

Saturday, March 14

10 a.m. – Spectator gates open.

11 a.m. – First round of Nitro Jam pro qualifying (Pro Stock, Nitro Harley, Nitro Funny Car, Outlaw Pro Mod).

1:30 p.m. – Second round of Nitro Jam pro qualifying (Pro Stock, Nitro Harley, Nitro Funny Car, Outlaw Pro Mod).

3:45 p.m. – Pre-race ceremonies.

4 p.m. – First round of Nitro Jam eliminations (Pro Stock, Nitro Harley, Nitro Funny Car, Outlaw Pro Mod).

6 p.m. – Second round of Nitro Jam eliminations (Pro Stock, Nitro Harley, Nitro Funny Car, Outlaw Pro Mod, Jet Dragsters, Jet Fire Truck).

7:30 p.m. – Final round of Nitro Jam eliminations (Pro Stock, Nitro Harley, Nitro Funny Car, Outlaw Pro Mod, Jet Dragsters, Jet Fire Truck).

The IHRA Nitro Jam Mardi Gras Nationals also will feature several special guests, including Tina Pierce, one of the stars of the popular Street Outlaws television series. The Street Outlaws star will be a guest of Crower and will sign autographs and make exhibition passes in her pro truck. She will be joined at the Crower booth by 16-year-old female drag racer Alex Taylor.
