GREEN TO RETURN TO ACTION WITH FORMER RICKIE SMITH CAMARO

Chad Green doesn't make excuses; it is what it is.

Green, a semi-finalist at the NHRA Gatornationals, had just knocked off Stevie "Fast" Jackson, was looking to knock off Mike Janis when his chances took a sharp turn for the worst.

Green left the line ahead of Janis when his car abruptly turned left and crossed the centerline, impacting the retaining wall. The wounded Corvette returned to the left lane where once again, it impacted the wall and came to an abrupt stop. The car caught fire as Green exited the car under his own power.

"I'm doing okay," Green said. "It went out there and shook a little bit and really, I wasn't quick enough getting out of it I don't think. It shook me out of the groove, and it was a little greasy out there, and it went left on me. I'm doing okay, but the car is hurt really bad."

Green took his wounded doorslammer to chassis builder Jerry Bickel, who began the arduous task of repairing the machine to return to competition.

In the meantime, Green purchased the 5.6-second Camaro formerly campaigned by Rickie Smith and is expected to be at the NHRA NGK 4-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway.
