FUNERAL ARRAGEMENTS FOR ROGER GUSTIN ESTABLISHED

 

Pioneer jet car competitor Roger Gustin passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the age of 76.

Gustin's career in drag racing spanned a period of 50 years, and in 1972 he became the first sanctioned jet car driver by the NHRA. He traveled the country piloting many well remembered jet cars such as the Time Machine, the Lava Machine and the Black and Decker Tools jet car. He set numerous speed records at drag strips throughout the country during his driving career.

He received many awards in recognition of his successful career, including being inducted into the NHRA Hall of Fame in 1980, the ProJet Association Hall of Fame in 1993 and the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2002.

Upon his retirement from driving jet cars he continued to work in the racing business. He was owner of AutoStar Productions, as well as Super Chevy Shows, which promoted motorsports circuits nationwide.

Friends may call from 5:00P.M. - 8:00P.M. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, Ohio 45638. A private family funeral will be held at the convenience of the family.
