BEAVER MOTORSPORTS TO RUN PRO STOCK IN 2022 BEGINNING AT GATORS

Mark Beaver, owner of Beaver Motorsports, confirmed to CompetitionPlus.com his team will be competing in NHRA’s Pro Stock class again in 2022.

The team will debut at the Gatornationals March 10-13 in Gainesville, Fla., with Larry Morgan driving the Beaver Motorsports Camaro.

“Oh yeah, I'm excited. I've been friends with Beaver and Chip (Lofton) for a long time,” said Morgan, a 19-time NHRA national event Pro Stock winner. “As long as we've got the power to do it, I'm definitely up for it. We just hope to qualify and go a couple rounds. If that's possible, that's what we're going to try to do. There's work to be done.”

Beaver concurred with Morgan.

“We're a little behind the 8-ball compared to other teams that have already been racing,” Beaver said. “We'll just run the best we can. We want to go out there and go out there and qualify for the events and qualify deep enough in the events where we feel comfortable, that we can make a couple of rounds. If we can make some rounds, Larry can do his job, I've seen that.”

Beaver said his team plans to compete in 12 races this season. They will be running engines from Frank Iaconio/Kenny Delco. Following Gainesville, Beaver Motorsports will compete at the SpringNationals in Houston, April 22-24.

Beaver Motorsports is expected to announce a sponsorship deal in the very near future.

Ian Landies will serve as the team’s crew chief. Vince Shull is the backhalf guy. Jeff Brown works on the clutch and is the hauler driver and Amanda Beaver is the team’s data engineer.

Morgan filled in for Stevens last season at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis and Reading, Pa., because he was dealing with aftermath of Hurricane Ida in his hometown of New Orleans.

Morgan once again is essentially filling in for Stevens, a six-time NHRA national event Pro Stock winner. “I want to do the best I can for Richie,” Morgan said.

Beaver said Stevens’ 2022 race schedule is to-be-determined as he’s sitting out as he and his wife, Jill are expecting their first child.

“His first choice to fill his seat was Larry,” Beaver said. “Richie is still as much a part of our race team as anyone.”

Morgan he will continue to work with Frank Manzo and Mike Castellana on the Pro Mod car. A car which Castellana will be driving in Gainesville.
