SUMMIT RENEWS NHRA ET PROGRAM

Summit Racing Equipment has renewed its series sponsorship of the NHRA Summit Racing Series through the year 2009.

The NHRA Summit Racing Series features competition in a bracket racing (elapsed time) format, allowing drivers in many types of cars, including dragsters, roadsters, sedans and coupes, to compete on an equal basis against each other. In addition to three competition categories for cars, there also is a motorcycle category featured in the NHRA Summit Racing Series.

The commitment by Summit Racing Equipment has been a huge boost to the sportsman series – the backbone of NHRA – which has provided for safe and exciting competition for the local racer since the mid-1970s.

As many as 300,000 racers nationwide will participate at 140 NHRA member tracks in the NHRA Summit Racing Series in 2007, competing for a share of available cash and awards. The NHRA Summit Racing Series will be the largest organized series in drag racing nationwide.

“With Summit Racing Equipment’s strong support and commitment, the NHRA Summit Racing Series continues to be the premier bracket racing series in the country, crowning national champions each year at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals,” said Gary Darcy, senior vice president of sales and marketing, NHRA.   “We appreciate and share Summit Racing Equipment’s dedication to grassroots and sportsman racers.”

Among the most popular programs added in recent years has been the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship, conducted at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.  The event brings the “best-of-the-best” in each of NHRA’s seven divisions together at the end of season to crown NHRA Summit Racing Series national champions.

In addition to the NHRA Summit Racing Series, Summit Racing Equipment is the primary sponsor for the Pontiac GTO Pro Stock team of Greg Anderson and Jason Line, winners of the last four POWERade Series world championships.

Summit Racing Equipment also is the title sponsor of the Summit Racing Southern Nationals in Atlanta, the NHRA Summitracing.com Nationals in Las Vegas, and the Inaugural Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Norwalk, Ohio.

“We are excited to continue our participation in NHRA championship drag racing with the renewal of our sponsorship of the NHRA Summit Racing Series, which is the lifeline of the sport,” said Kirk Heinbuch, Motorsports & Events Manager for Summit Racing Equipment.  “This program is very important to Summit Racing Equipment as it provides a platform for us to reach out to the thousands of local bracket racers across North America.”
