HILL AUCTIONS 40 YEARS OF DRAG RACING

Roy Hill is known for years of Pro Stock experience and his innate ability to teach novice race car drivers how to quickly become seasoned veterans.

A lesser known trait, Hill admits, is his nature of being what he considers to be the world’s largest packrat. roy_hill2.jpgRoy Hill is known for years of Pro Stock experience and his innate ability to teach novice race car drivers how to quickly become seasoned veterans.

A lesser known trait, Hill admits, is his nature of being what he considers to be the world’s largest packrat.

This weekend Hill intends to reveal just how big a packrat he has been.

Beginning at 10 A.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2008, the legendary Pro Stock driver will auction off various items he’s acquired during a career that spans back to the 1960s. The auctioning block will be decorated with everything from obscure crankshafts to Pro Stock carburetors to former race cars, including a former Bob Glidden championship winning Ford Probe and the Pro Modified 1964 Comet made famous by Ronnie Sox.

There will also be Junior Dragsters for sale, as well as one of Hill’s altered-wheelbase Plymouth Satellite race cars.

The auction will be staged at Hill’s Sophia, N.C.-based shop.

“It’s just a lot of things that I’ve acquired over 40 years of racing that I don’t need any longer,” Hill explained. “I’m standing here looking at a lot of stuff that could find better use by someone else than just sitting around here. I just never threw anything away.”
