The racing this Sunday from the Competition Bike, Pro Street Bike, V-Rod, Harley/Buell, Modified Bike and Stock Street categories will see a strong entry of bike competitors following up last weekend's action on their two-wheeled machines. Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said he was pleased to see the countdown to the Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19 Tin Top Event punctuated by continuous action at the track.

“After the success of the Nostalgia racing at the weekend I am looking forward to welcoming the Morgan and Wacker Motorcycle Shootout this Sunday, which will provide something special for all those fans of two-wheeled machines,” said Bettes.

“There is also plenty of other action happening at Willowbank Raceway in the lead up to the Tin Tops, including Havoc Print and Sign Test and Tune events every Wednesday and some Saturdays, Bracket Events and the Havoc Print and Sign Street Series Events.

“It is also worth remembering the Tin Top Titles is the last event for the year from which entries for the Wallace Bishop Jewellers National Photographic Competition, supported by Willowbank Raceway, can be submitted so anyone interested in being involved should take advantage of the opportunities at the track between now and then.”

The weekend’s Nostalgia event saw the sons of recently passed away Nostalgia legend Roly Leahy, Peter and Greg, attempting to break the 200mph bracket aboard their father’s car in a tribute to the popular racer. While they were unsuccessful, they came close - upping the car’s previous fastest record to 197mph to gain cheers from the emotional crowd.

Radell Mohr took home the inaugural Roly Leahy tribute trophy in the Junior Fuel category – the category in which Roly competed - while Steve Baker was runner-up. Also taking wins at the weekend were Tim Caswell in Nostalgia Outlaw, Glen Teale in Slingshot, Kerry Siebhur in Gas, Warren Bradford in Vintage Gas Peter Bausch in Hot Rod, Rod Mellor in American Muscle, Ron Holz in Aussie Muscle and Deano Webb in the Classic Bike category.

The new Saturday and Sunday Tin Top Titles will see ANDRA Championship Drag Racing from Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle on April 18 and 19.
