ONE RACE ADDED, ANOTHER REMOVED FROM 2009 NHRA HOT ROD HERITAGE RACING SERIES SCHEDULE
One race has been added and another removed from the 2009 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series schedule, it was announced today by NHRA officials.
The Southern California Shootout event that was tentatively scheduled for Sept. 11-13 at Auto Club Dragway at Fontana has been cancelled due to noise ordinance issues. In another adjustment to the 2009 schedule, a second event at Sacramento Raceway has been added to the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series schedule, keeping the series total at eight. ONE RACE ADDED, ANOTHER REMOVED FROM 2009 NHRA HOT ROD HERITAGE RACING SERIES SCHEDULE

Nostalgia Funny Car will headline the Nitro Nite of Fire, and will be the only points-earning NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series category featured at the event. Several other non-series categories also will compete during the event, including Outlaw Pro Mod, 7.0 Pro, Top Sportsman, Pro Gas, Top Eliminator West, Big Bucks E.T. and Drag Bikes. A special event called “Cackle Mania” also will be held during the event as several cackle cars will be push-started, including Tommy Ivo’s Barnstormer, The Vagabond and the Burkholder Brothers Fiat. Two jet cars and the E-Ticket Ride Wheelstander ’57 Chevy pickup also will make exhibition passes during the event.
NHRA developed the Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series in 2008 to help preserve NHRA's rich history and tradition while providing racing opportunities for those enthusiasts who enjoy nostalgia drag racing competition.
