“Waterbed” Fred Miller and Pat Musi, pending a comeback of monstrous proportions from their competition, will meet in the second round of competition.

Miller used a first round story chronicling an ill-fated match race weekend during the early years of his association with the famed Blue Max team. He carries 76.66% of the reader vote against former IHRA Vice President Ted Jones.

Jones, for his part, has an interesting tale involving IHRA founder Larry Carrier and the day he told off the lady who sang the Harper Valley P.T.A. song.

Musi has been a hit with his absolutely true story of how he ended up on the People’s Court television show. This story of New Jersey vigilante justice snared an unprecedented 78.88% of the reader vote in two days against Whit Bazemore.

Bazemore’s first round story focuses on the time he alleges Mike Dunn nearly got them killed.

If their leads hold, Miller and Musi will meet in the quarter-finals on January 5, 2009. Thus far Musi has the edge for lane choice.
