Kalitta Motorsports crew chief Jim Oberhofer would love to provide answers for all those who ask questions regarding the 2009 season but he cannot and with good reason, he doesn’t know himself with any degree of certainty.

Doug Kalitta will return, but pending a miracle David Grubnic and Hillary Will most likely will be spectators.

“We’re working on our program with Mac Tools and we haven’t finished that yet,” Oberhofer said.

Oberhofer confirmed initially that Mac Tools will fund the dragster for ten races. He added pending programs could increase the schedule by as many as four races.

“We are really trying to get out there for 24 races,” Oberhofer added. “It’s going to take some help to make that happen. The economy is so bad that it has affected Kalitta Air’s business too.

“Connie just isn’t going to fund a car out of pocket anymore. We’ve just resigned ourselves to the fact Grubby’s car will be parked and there just isn’t a Hail Mary in sight.

“Hillary’s the same there. There’s just nothing out there.”
