TED CYR PASSES

Former NHRA Nationals and March Meet winner Ted Cyr, who with original partner Bill Hopper had one of the most successful teams in the country during the late 1950s and early 1960s and who later fielded a modern Top Fuel car with Flip Schofield, died Dec. 2 of pharmaceutical complications following heart surgery in July. He was 79. In addition to Irene, his wife of 58 years, Cyr is survived by his son, Gary; daughter, Yvonne Scott; daughter-in-law, Mary Cyr; grandchildren, Jason, Joel, and Joshua Scott, Emily Aguilar, Lauren Tarug, and Andrew Cyr; and great-grandchildren, Jay and Shane Scott and Eden and Saffron Tarug. He is predeceased by his son, Larry.
