There was some real drag racing pedigree on hand during this past weekend’s SPEED original Drag Race High live shoot finale at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif. In a bit of irony, these multi-time professional champions were on hand to witness an ode to true ‘first-time’ racers as two Southern California high schools battled it out on the quarter mile. There was some real drag racing pedigree on hand during this past weekend’s SPEED original Drag Race High live shoot finale at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif. In a bit of irony, these multi-time professional champions were on hand to witness an ode to true ‘first-time’ racers as two Southern California high schools battled it out on the quarter mile.

Six-time IHRA Top Fuel champion Clay Millican joined two time and newly crowned NHRA Nitro Funny Car titlist Cruz Pedregon in helping coach, support and judge the teams in the final episode of Drag Race High, Season Two. The two San Diego-area schools, El Camino High School and Romona High School, received last minute pointers and how to best deal with the spotlight as these two schools were joined together in competition – a spot traditionally reserved to only those competing within the confines of athletic fields or walls of gymnasiums.

“The ‘Final Exam’ for Drag Race High was one of the most exciting things I have ever been a part of,” said Millican, who is also host of the show. “The students put together two great cars - and I do not want to give away anything here - but the finale was off the chart for drama and excitement. This season of Drag Race High is going to be a must-watch program!”

"SPEED has really got something here,” Pedregon said. “The opportunity these kids received is much more than just a TV show - its life changing."

Season Two of Drag Race High premieres on SPEED in February.
