CLANTON BRINGING THE BIG MONEY TO DALLAS

Big Money Racing Heads to Ennis to do “Battle”

clanton.jpgSouthern legend “Big Money” Bil Clanton is no stranger to competing on the ADRL tour’s biggest stage. Clanton will once again take the family owned ’53 Studebaker to Ennis, TX this weekend for the 4th Annual LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals, an event which includes the championship deciding Battle For The Belts. The “Battle” pits the top eight points earners during the 2008 season in a winner take all race for the Belt and a $20,000 winners share. Clanton is in the field for the special event which will take place Friday evening, making him one of only two drivers to qualify for every Pro Extreme Battle For The Belts since the inaugural 2005 season.

“We are very proud of the fact that we have qualified for the Battle For The Belts every year,” said Clanton. “I think that says a lot for a low budget team such as ourselves to remain competitive against these guys in Pro Extreme.” Big Money Racing Heads to Ennis to do “Battle”

“We are very proud of the fact that we have qualified for the Battle For The Belts every year,” said Clanton. “I think that says a lot for a low budget team such as ourselves to remain competitive against these guys in Pro Extreme.”

Proving that consistency is key, Clanton qualified in the 6th position for the unique event despite no race wins this season. Being a solid performer paid off as the team qualified for every event they attended & exited in the first round only once. This has been a trademark of the team in ADRL competition. No team has qualified for more Pro Extreme races, with Big Money Racing having missed one event & only failing to qualify twice in four years. A three time ADRL national event winner, Clanton was runner up at the inaugural Battle For The Belts in 2005.

When quizzed about his chances this weekend, Clanton is confident as always. “I think we have as good a chance as any of the other seven guys in the Battle. Despite having our share of troubles this season, we have held our own against 30 or more of the baddest racers in the country & feel fortunate to be in the top eight.”

Round #1 of eliminations on Friday night will bring a classic battle of southern outlaw racers, as Clanton will square off with defending champion Jason Scruggs. These two are familiar foes, having faced countless times throughout the years. Most would consider Scruggs the favorite at this point, a situation that Clanton relishes.

“I like being the underdog,” said Clanton. “The situation allows you to let it all hang out as you have everything to gain & nothing to lose. We look forward to the opportunity to take our shot at the champ.”

The 4th Annual LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals will be held October 24 & 25, with the Battle For The Belts eliminations taking place on Friday evening. World Finals qualifying & eliminations continue on Saturday as the first points event towards the 2009 season, giving racers the opportunity to get a leg up on upcoming season heading into the winter.
