Modesto’s Dave Varner played a big role in the championship for Infineon Raceway by taking home a win in the Pro ET class over Marvin Wolfmeier (Vail, Ariz.).  San Pablo’s Rick Morgan also aided the cause by advancing to the final round in the Sportsman division, where he lost to Fallbrook’s Gary Ratcliffe. Other winners from Sunday’s races included Chuck Phelps (Chandler, Ariz.) in Super Pro and Dustin Vegedes (Escondido) in the Motorcycle division.

The weekend was also highlighted by Saturday’s Race of Champions, in which the best drag racers from each raceway competed in head-to-head competition in their respective classes. In the High School class, Napa’s Chris Simas and Nikole D’Adamo faced off against one another, with Simas taking the win.  In addition, Tracy's Dave Bothello earned a runner-up finish against Riverside’s John Gidcumb in the Motorcycle category.

The Infineon Raceway team consisted of 68 Northern California drag racers that competed in the 2008 Summit ET Bracket Drag Racing Series at Infineon Raceway. All points leaders from the seven-race series were invited to participate on behalf of Infineon Raceway.
