Smith alleges that he got a bad batch of tires in Texas.

Smith, who is normally among the quickest in 60 foot times, said he diagnosed the problem but there was no time to remedy the situation in Dallas.

Smith said his normal 1.06 second 60 foot times slowed to 1.12-seconds.  He compensated for what he said was bad tires by leaning heavily on the tree and his riding skills..

Winning two of his three rounds on holeshots, Smith lengthened his points lead to 59 points over Eddie Kraweic.

“We had some tire issues in Texas,” said Smith.  “It was absolutely horrible.  The tire was bouncing and shaking all over the place.  The worse I have ever seen, by far.  We managed to get through the weekend somehow and we now have some different tires to run, so we should be back to normal in Memphis.”
