CompetitionPlus.com has learned from multiple places sources that once-approved to the NHRA nitromethane supplier Wego Chemical Company approached the NHRA with an offer to sell their 53-gallon drums of 100-percent nitro as a additional distributor and was turned down. The NHRA was reportedly given a commitment by Wego to sell their fuel throughout the remainder of the season for $1400.

Wego once sold nitromethane to the official NHRA distributor VP Race Fuels but discontinued doing business with them in 2008 over a reported financial dispute. An NHRA official confirmed with CompetitionPlus.com recently they had amended the official supplier rule to include any company the official distributor could acquire product from.

The price of nitromethane currently stands at $1,822 for 42-gallons and is expected to climb as high as $2000 in three weeks.

The NHRA remains firmly committed to their exclusive distributorship contract to VP Race Fuels.
