NEXT PRO MODIFIED STOP AT DUNN RACEWAY PARK IN WESTERN NEW YORK

The next stop on the 2008 Pro Modified Racing Tour presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario will be at Dunn Tire Raceway Park Saturday, July 26.

This event, the fourth in the six-race series, is the Fourth Annual PMRA Challenge presented by G-Force Race Cars, Grainy's Automotive and Niagara Auto, and co-sponsor Jack Grainy said he is pleased to be a part of the race.

“This is worth every penny for us,” said Grainy, whose father, also named Jack, drives the Grainy Brothers 1967 Camaro Pro Modified. “I’m proud to be a part of the team.

“I’m also pleased to be able to help present this race, especially to our hometown race fans,” added Grainy. “We know that new track owner Ralph Galluzzi will present a great show, and we’re happy to work with him and be a part of it.” The next stop on the 2008 Pro Modified Racing Tour presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario will be at Dunn Tire Raceway Park Saturday, July 26.

With Sonny Grainy as crew chief, the Western New York-based team unveiled a new Pro Modified for this season, and the veteran racers are very pleased with the new G-Force Race Cars-built entry.

At present the team sits in 11th spot in the standings. It has only made two events so far this year, but has qualified well at both (Cayuga Dragway and New York International Raceway Park). Last year’s PMRA champion, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, ON, sits at the top in the standings.

But Grainy said the team will be ready for the next event.

“We’ve made a few changes, but the car is 90 percent done for this next race,” he mentioned. “My Dad really enjoys driving the new car, and says it’s not near as hard to get down the track.”

Along with the PMRA racing, the track will host a round of racing in the Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series. There will be Alcohol Funny Car racing, and a full card of regular weekly competition.

The one-day event is scheduled for Saturday, July 26. Qualifying is to begin at 2:30 p.m. with eliminations to start at 5:00 p.m.

Last year’s PMRA Points Champion, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, leads the Point Award Series Championship sponsored by Wix Filters, Valvoline, Uni-Select and Moen. Boland was the inaugural PMRA winner at this track. Larry Sinke of Welland, Ontario is second in points, Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario is third, Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario is fourth, Ike Maier of Tottenham, Ontario is fifth, Randy Jewell of Holley, New York and Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, Ontario are tied in sixth at present, and eighth is last year’s winner at the track, Matt Guenther of Livonia, New York.

The Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series, known for their pristine stock-appearing race cars and strong wheelstanding launches, this series, formed in 1996, features competitors from Ontario and New York. The popular cars tour each season for championship points and prizes at drag strips throughout Southern Ontario and Western New York.
