“Michael has proven that his experience and leadership capabilities make him well suited to develop and direct the public relations needs of NHRA, a major portion of which will be interacting with the team at Edelman on a daily basis and coordinating their efforts on behalf of NHRA,” Archambeault said.  “He is an integral part of the team and well-deserving of this new position.”

Prior to joining NHRA, Padian worked for nearly a decade as a sports writer and editor at daily newspapers in Maryland and Connecticut. During that time, he covered a variety of sports, including NASCAR and IRL, and most prominently was responsible for coverage of University of Connecticut men’s basketball. Padian received a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from the University of Maryland. A native of Torrance, Calif., he lives in Redondo Beach with wife Kathy and daughters Riley and Rachel.

“I look forward to the challenge of my new role in the Communications Department at NHRA,” Padian said. “This is a very exciting time for NHRA Drag Racing and we have all of the elements in place and are well-positioned for a great period of growth. I look forward to being a part of it.”

In her new position as Senior Media Relations Manager, Seymour will continue to provide advance media relations support for select NHRA POWERade Series events and assist in maintaining event and corporate communication initiatives, including the development of press releases and statistics. In addition, she will now be responsible for overseeing media relations operations for the NHRA POWERade Series, providing media counsel to all NHRA-owned tracks, helping to coordinate media efforts for the NHRA Street Legal Drags presented by AAA and assisting NHRA Director of Media Relations Anthony Vestal with a variety of special media projects and publicity campaigns.

“Lachelle has been a tremendous asset to the communications team since she came on board and is well deserving of this promotion,” Vestal said. “Her friendly approach has made her a favorite among the media we service. She is a great team-player and her can-do attitude makes her a very reliable source, and someone who takes great pride in making a novice auto racing journalist’s experience at an NHRA POWERade event a turn-key process and one to remember.”

Before joining NHRA, Seymour worked for five years as a multiple beat reporter for The Advocate, an award-winning Gannett-owned daily newspaper in Central Ohio. While at The Advocate, she covered topics that ranged from the 2004 Presidential election to high school football as a news, sports and features writer.

“The NHRA has been a proving ground for me in many ways,” Seymour said. “I’ve met many friends and mentors during my time with the sport so far, especially within the NHRA POWERade Series family. I’m proud to represent the sport and the drivers that make it what it is, and I look forward to the challenge of the additional responsibilities in my new position.”

Seymour graduated from Denison University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and English-Literature. A native of St. Louisville, Ohio, she has called Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. home since 2005.
