LANDIS INJURED; FARBER NAMED REPLACEMENT DRIVER FOR NEXT GENERATION
Next Generation Race Team faces adversity as its star driver,
George Landis, suffered an accident in his shop, SRC Racing, while outfitting a
vehicle with a high performance exhaust.
"The H-pipe slipped and came down
across my lower leg, completely severing the muscle right above the Achilles
tendon," says Landis.
After 6-7 weeks of complete immobilization of the foot, Landis' surgeon is expecting a complete recovery. "In the meantime, I've been rolling around in my wheelchair with a laptop doing engine tuning," laughed the good-spirited Landis.
Next Generation Race Team will compete with their Dodge Stratus in the upcoming NMCA event in Joliet, IL, scheduled
for July 17-20.
Peter Farber of Worcester, Mass has been named replacement
driver for this event, as Landis recovers and completes physical therapy.
"Peter
is a friendly competitor of ours in Pro Street, whom we respect a great
deal," commented team owner Steve Quint. "Peter is awaiting delivery of a new
car, and we thought he would be the ideal choice to drive for us at the Joilet
event."
