NMCA LSX SHOOTOUT COMING
The NMCA and GM Performance Parts are excited to announce the 2nd Annual GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout, which will occur at Memphis Motorsports Park near Memphis, Tenn, the weekend of October 9-12, 2008. The event, held in conjunction with the Nitto Tire NMCA World Finals, is the largest LS event in the U.S. The LSX Shootout features awesome heads-up racing for the fastest LS-powered cars in the world, index-style racing for competitors of all levels, a dyno shootout to see who can make the most LS power, and a giant all LS-powered auto show and shine. This is “the” LS event of the year, with over $60,000 in cash and prizes, and it’s brought to you by GM Performance Parts.
Presenting sponsor, Source Interlink’s GM High-Tech Performance magazine, will produce the official LSX Shootout fan guide as well as rules and event press releases leading up to the LSX Shootout. Rick Jensen, the editor of GM High-Tech Performance magazine, and his team are looking forward to the 2nd annual event and will provide comprehensive Shootout coverage for their passionate readers.
The LSX Shootout’s heads-up classes include LSX Drag Radial and LSX All
Motor, both of which are wheels-up and hardcore. Drag Radial is a 7-second
turbo vs. nitrous vs. supercharger class that is an incredible fan favorite. The
winner will receive $3,000, an LS376/480 crate engine courtesy of GM Performance
Parts, a winner’s plaque, and the coveted LSX Shootout winner’s jacket. All
Motor is an engine builders’ class as these racers bring their LSX combinations
into the 8-second zone naturally aspirated. The winner will receive $2,000, an
LS376/480 crate engine courtesy of GM Performance Parts, a winner’s plaque, and
the coveted LSX Shootout winner’s jacket.
The LSX Shootout also
features two classes for mild to wild street-type LS-powered vehicles, LSX
Showdown and the all-new LSX Truck & SUV class. Both of these LSX classes
allow racers to pick their index, matching their street machine up against some
of the fastest cars in the country. LSX Showdown is for cars only and LSX Truck
& SUV is for any LS-powered trucks or sport utility vehicles. The winner of
LSX Showdown will receive $1,000, an LSX Bowtie Block courtesy of GM Performance
Parts, a winner’s plaque, and the coveted LSX Shootout winner’s jacket. The
winner of LSX Truck & SUV will receive $1,000, an LS327/327 crate engine, a
winner’s plaque, and a special LSX Shootout winner’s jacket. In addition, all
LSX Showdown and Truck & SUV class participants will get free entry in the
Tremec True Street class on Saturday. Travel through the countryside of
Tennessee, and then bring your LS-powered musclecar, truck or SUV back to the
track for a three-run showdown to determine who has the baddest LSX street car
in the world! If the winner of True Street is LS-powered, GM Performance Parts
will double the purse and give the winner an LSX Bowtie block!
