Three-time IHRA Funny Car world champion Rob Atchison will begin the search today for a new major sponsor for 2009 and beyond.

“Our objective when we signed Atchison Racing was to increase our name recognition and market share in the industry,” said Brent Erickson, President of Erickson Manufacturing. “With three consecutive World Championships and two runner up finishes in the last five years that goal has certainly been accomplished. Rob, his family and the entire team have been great ambassadors for Erickson Manufacturing on and off the track. Once this decision was made we wanted to give Rob lots of time to explore opportunities for 2009.”
“Our association with Erickson Manufacturing has been great.” added Atchison. “I feel that Brent, Connie and the entire Erickson family have become an extension of my own family. With Erickson’s support we have a strong foundation that we will continue to build upon. We appreciate that Brent gave us advance notice of the company decision. This additional time will help us to secure the funding necessary to continue to run the IHRA circuit in 2009 and beyond.”
