FOLEY RETURNS TO ETOWN

Top Fuel racer Doug Foley will do his best to represent New Jersey this coming
weekend at the 39th annual Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals when the Sewell, N.J.,
resident returns to action at his home track of Old Bridge Township Raceway
Park.
The former IHRA Rookie of the Year rose to national prominence during a part-time NHRA campaign in 2007 when the media dubbed him "Giant Killer" for his numerous upsets of top-ranked racers like Tony Schumacher, Brandon Bernstein, and Rod Fuller. Now, with the continued corporate backing of Fx Caprara Car Companies of Watertown, N.Y., Foley will try to earn his first NHRA Wally at Old Bridge.
"This is our third race of the year with Billy Caprara and we're really happy to be back in action, even if it's just for one more weekend," Foley said. "We're continuing our search for full-time funding and it helps tremendously to compete at some of the races so we can show our potential sponsors what we do in person. "I know the other teams are fighting it out in the Countdown to the Championship but we're going to do everything we can to win some rounds, even if it messes up someone else's plans. I think we've shown we can race with anyone when we're out there."
Even though all of the professionals competing in the nitro ranks are dealing with a switch to new tires, Foley thinks he might have a slight head-start on the competition after running an exhibition match race June 7 in Englishtown.
"The guys were excited to get back in race mode and that match race helped us tune ourselves up a bit," he said. "We made a few passes down the same track we'll all be racing on this coming weekend so that has to be an advantage. Plus, we had a chance to shakedown our new Murf McKinney car that we're prepping for 2009. The new tires are going to throw everyone a curve, including, but we're all in the same boat.
"I have a lot of faith in my crew chief, Doug Kuch. He's been with me for almost every pass I've ever made in a Top Fuel car and he's proven to me time and again that he's capable of handling anything you throw at him. He'll have us ready to race. I also want to thank our friends at Scherbon Consolidated Inc. for jumping in with some extra funding for this event. Hopefully, we can all have a good time."
