DUNN NOT DONE

A rumor suggested Jim Dunn, Tony Bartone and the Canidae All-Natural Pet Food wouldn’t be in Englishtown and likely wouldn’t return until after the NHRA Mile High Nationals in Denver, Co.

Such unsubstantiated news comes as a surprise to Dunn.

“I haven’t heard that one yet,” Dunn admitted. “We’re putting a new car together right now as we speak. We will be in Englishtown. Never count us out. We have a brand new Victory Race Car that will be legal for Denver. Image

“We might not get there until Friday, but we’ll be there.”

Driver Tony Bartone suffered his second major accident of the 2008 season during the NHRA Torco Route 66 Nationals in Chicago. This marked the second time the Funny Car he was driving went into a major wheelstand and slammed down breaking the steering. The car then made contact with the wall rendering it useless for the weekend.

The carnage isn’t easy on Dunn’s wallet and neither is the rising cost of nitromethane.

“That’s life,” Dunn said. “The worse part is the fuel for the truck and as for the nitro, I’m sure the NHRA will kick in more round money to cover the nitro.”

Dunn laughed and went back to work.
