FRIDAY ADRL QUALIFYING
STANTON, HARPER, WILSON AND PROPHIT LEAD ADRL QUALIFYING
Keep up with this weekend's action. - SAME DAY COVERAGEBubba Stanton of Potts Camp, Mississippi ran a career-best 3.80-seconds pass at 196.59 mph to earn the provisional number-one qualifying position in Pro Extreme June 6, at the 4th annual ADRL Pizza Hut Summer Drags at Knoll Gas Motorsports Park at U.S. 131 in Martin, Michigan. Following Stanton on the list are Joshua Hernandez, Travis Swearingen,
Bil Clanton and Canadian Ray Commisso in his first ADRL appearance, while defending series champion and current record holder Jason Scruggs is sixth in the race debut of his new 2006 Dodge Stratus.
Stanton's class-leading, eighth-mile effort came after his team executed an engine change in his '63 Corvette during a lengthy rain delay that cut short Friday's scheduled test session. He is cautiously optimistic the time will hold up through two more qualifying sessions on Saturday before eliminations begin mid-afternoon.

Stanton's class-leading, eighth-mile effort came after his team
executed an engine change in his '63 Corvette during a lengthy rain
delay that cut short Friday's scheduled test session. He is cautiously
optimistic the time will hold up through two more qualifying sessions
on Saturday before eliminations begin mid-afternoon.
"It's going to be rough to beat that in the heat we're expecting
tomorrow," the 2006 Pro extreme champ said. "But anything's possible;
no run is safe with the guys we're racing out here."
In Pro Nitrous, Paducah, Kentucky's Billy Harper continued where he
left off at the previous ADRL national event a month earlier in
Georgia, where he established a new class E.T. record of 3.91 seconds.
Harper seized the provisional pole in Michigan with a 3.94-seconds pass
at 186.71 mph in his 2001 Dodge Viper. Texan Doug Riesterer is second
at four-seconds-flat, followed by Jim Halsey, Brad Personett in a
turbocharged entry, and Ohio's David Roemer.
After a second rain delay, Michelle Wilson was in the first pair down
the track in Extreme 10.5 qualifying and posted a 4.85 at just 112.01
mph that takes here into Saturday as the first-round leader. The Azle,
Texas-based racer said she's surprised to be on top after battling an
ill-handling race car at the top end of the track. "I had to lift when
it got loose," she said. "I hope to go a lot quicker and faster
tomorrow, and still stay in the number-one position." Wilson's husband,
H.T. Wilson, is second, with Brent Rau third so far in his ADRL debut.
In just his second ADRL Pro Extreme Motorcycle event Matt Prophit leads
qualifying after one round with a 4.31-seconds pass at 165.86 mph
aboard his '07 Suzuki. Defending class champ Billy Vose is second after
going just six-ten thousandths slower, followed by Prophit's brother
and team owner, Charlie Prophit, Darian Guillory and Mimmo Marciano.
Like Wilson, Prophit was unimpressed with his number-one status and
expects several bikes to improve their times on Saturday.
"It all depends on the weather, though," he said. "But no matter what,
we're going to put more in it. We've got two more passes to work with."
Qualifying for the 4th annual ADRL Pizza Hut Summer Drags resumes at
noon on Saturday, with a second qualifying session set for 2 p.m. and
elimination rounds scheduled to begin at 4 p.m
