Courtney Force is ready to get summer started. Unlike most college students Force will not be reclining poolside but rather accelerating beyond speeds of 260 mph in the BrandSource sponsored A Fuel dragster she shares with her sister Brittany. The 8th annual TORCO Race Fuels Nationals at Route 66 Raceway outside Chicago, which runs June 6-8, will be a new experience for the young driver from Yorba Linda, California.

“I’m excited to be going to Chicago. I’ve been there when I was little and I am excited that it is one of the newer facilities,” said the 19-year old sophomore at Santiago Canyon College. It will be a new challenge for me to race there.”

The A Fueler owned by Jerry Darien has qualified for all four NHRA national events the sisters Force have entered but it has yet to advance beyond the first round. This is a problem Courtney Force is hoping to correct this weekend and she is drawing on her father’s recent success in Topeka.

Courtney was in California when her father, 14-time champion John Force drove his Castrol GTX High Mileage Ford Mustang to his 126th NHRA national event win and the first win since his devastating accident in Dallas last September at the 20th annual O’Reilly Summer Nationals.

“(Racing with dad) will definitely make this weekend special. I was so bummed I couldn’t be in Topeka. I know he was sad I couldn’t be there either. I was at home crying watching his interview on ESPN2,” said the former star of the A&E reality TV Show Driving Force. “I am really happy for him and I’m glad he was able to get back out there and win a race. Hopefully I can go some rounds for him this weekend.”

The youngest Force driver is not worried about rust after a lengthy lay-off to hit the books.

“I’m really excited it has been a while because I’ve been busy with school. It has been hard to sit at home and call my family to see how everyone is doing at the races,” said Force. “I’m excited to get back in the BrandSource A Fuel dragster. I’ve had more than a few weeks off so I am ready.”

Since Courtney was behind the wheel Darien has made a number of tuning changes to the BrandSource dragster that has moved its performance in the right direction. The increase in power initially startled Brittany Force but she quickly adjusted and Courtney is not focused on the changes but rather on the positive benefits.

“I know that it has been running a lot better since the last time I was in it. Brittany has been running quicker times than I was running. I hope that the car will continue to run quicker and it will help me go some rounds,” added Force.
