Top Fuel driver Jack 'the Sheriff' Harris returned to the seat of his Utah Posse dragster during the 50th annual Bakersfield March Meet and went on to record the quickest elapsed time for the class with a 5.568 at 263 MPH during a second round single.  Jaws dropped and most had to take a double-take at the scoreboard, including Harris' own crew, when the number came up.

"All we wanted to do was stop hurting parts", said team partner Billy Robbins.  "We were going through pistons and a lot of parts on every pass, and just softened the combination to reduce the carnage."

Harris came back in the semis and backed the number up for the record with a 5.578 against Denver Schutz.  The Top Fuel final paired Harris up against first-in-the-6.60s and red-hot Brad Thompson, and it was Harris earning his third March Meet title when Thompson smoked the tires after the hit.

Harris' record times were all on the standard M & H Tires, and along with the win earned the 5th Annual Ernie Hashim Memorial Award presented by John Hashim to the Top Fuel Winner at the March Meet.
