JEGS PRO MOD INVITEES

jegspm.jpgOrganizers of the JEGS ProMod Challenge have announced the first list of invitees for the series-opening 39th annual ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals, the series-opening race that runs from March 13-16 at Gainesville Raceway in central Florida. In all, 24 racers have been invited to compete.

"It is our hope that every race on the 2008 JEGS ProMod Challenge will exhibit the very best the Pro Modified class has to offer," series promoter Troy Coughlin said. "We strive to invite the drivers that best represent this style of racing, including all six former series champions, racers with winning records at previous races held during NHRA national events, and solid representatives of each style of racing we allow -- including supercharged, nitrous oxide, and turbocharged-powered entries.

"We'd love to open the doors to everyone but we must remember that we are invited guests of the NHRA and as such we need to follow the guidelines of our agreement with the organization. It's a privilege to race on their stage. As such, our competition committee spent several hours putting our first list of invitees together."

Drivers invited to attend the historic Gatornationals are Josh Hernandez, Jay Payne, Mike Ashley, Fred Hahn, Shannon Jenkins, Rickie Smith, Shelly Payne, Troy Coughlin, Tim Tindle, Rick Stivers, Scott Ray, Roger Burgess, Danny Rowe, Kirk Kuhns, Mike Knowles, Tony Pontieri, Raymond Commisso, Steve Engel, Chip King, Thomas Patterson, Mike Moran, Brad Personette, Mike Castellana, and John Russo.

These drivers must contact series administrators and confirm their participation via e-mail at JegsProMod@earthlink.net by the close of business on Monday, March 3, or risk losing their spots. Drivers not listed above also are encouraged to contact the series and express their interest in racing at the event using the same email address. Extra consideration will be extended to drivers with a history of supporting the series, drivers with successful on-track records, and drivers that can commit to the entire 10-race series.

A second list of invitees of drivers will be released next week as necessary.

JEGS ProMod Challenge races will take place during NHRA national events in Gainesville, Houston, Atlanta, St. Louis, Bristol, Englishtown, Indianapolis, Dallas, Richmond, and Las Vegas in 2008.
