While taking delivery of the car is an exciting step toward making its debut, Berner's focus is on the car's chassis mastermind, Rick Jones. While finalizing the GXP assembly, Rick Jones and family were also dealing with the failing health of Rick's mother, who has now passed from this life.

While taking delivery of the car is an exciting step toward making its debut, Berner's focus is on the car's chassis mastermind, Rick Jones. While finalizing the GXP assembly, Rick Jones and family were also dealing with the failing health of Rick's mother, who has now passed from this life.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rick and his family," said Berner. "He has worked incredibly hard for us on this car, despite simultaneously dealing with family issues," said Berner. "We really can't thank him and his family enough for all their effort. The car is awesome and we're excited to get started on it, but our first thoughts are for Rick and his family. Our beautiful Quarter-Max.com Pontiac GXP is a tribute to Rick Jones' hard work and dedication to the sport. May he receive the same support from his racing family that he has always been quick to give."

Although Jones is obviously giving most of his time and attention to family matters at this point, he remains positive about the possibilities of this GXP:

"The 2008 Pontiac GXP is a really nice car to build. Pete's car is our first IHRA GXP and I think it turned out excellent. It is an exact duplicate to Greg Anderson's car and his car ran exceptionally well the first time out so we can't wait to see how it performs," says Jones.

The Quarter-Max.com Pontiac GXP is set to debut at the 2008 CSR Eastern Spring Test Nationals presented by Torco's CompetitionPlus.com in Valdosta, Georgia, March 6-8.
