Last season Jeff Dobbins, a Wilmington, N.C. resident, had one of the most impressive IHRA Pro Stock seasons of his dobbinsDSA_9492.JPGcareer. He put a pair of Ironmen on his shelf, once going from the first alternate position to the event championship at the Suzuki Motor City Nationals in Milan, Mich. as well as ending the season by knocking off 2007 World Champion Robert Patrick in the final at the World Finals in Rockingham, NC.

With 1999 IHRA Crew Chief of the Year Butch Peterson turning the wrenches on his 2006 Escort and the two 2007 wins under his belt, Dobbins is primed for a big season on the 2008 IHRA Knoll Gas Nitro Jam tour. However, Dobbins is an independent racer without big-time sponsorship, so the team has no concrete plans and their race schedule is yet to be determined. Regardless, when he gets the call Peterson will be ready.

“Yes, I can’t wait to get back at it,” Peterson said. “We had a really fast car last year and Jeff, without a doubt, is the best driver in the business. The car is ready to go and we’re ready to go…we just have to wait and see what races we’ll be hitting.”
