THE CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES

Ah, the California wild fires. You've seen them on TV and in the paper, unfortunately, Brut Funny Car driver Ron Capps is a getting a first-hand look.

Let Capps tell it as reported through sponsor Brut.com:

"As most of you have heard about the fires in our area, we cut a photo shoot a little short because they had ordered a mandatory evacuation of our area near Carlsbad, Calif.  Shelley (wife) and the kids, my Mom who was visiting, and Shelley's Mom and Dad who live in Fallbrook -- which is also burning out of control -- got lucky and scored a room at a hotel just up the coast along the ocean.

"I want to thank everyone that has called and sent messages. I know when my teammate Richie Stevens had the devastation in New Orleans, we all really had no idea just how bad things were until we heard from Richie himself.

"I was lucky enough to catch one of the last flights home last night into San Diego and I cannot express how surreal it was seeing all the fires as we flew into San Diego. It was something straight out of a movie. Ah, the California wild fires. You've seen them on TV and in the paper, unfortunately, Brut Funny Car driver Ron Capps is a getting a first-hand look.

"I snuck over to the house to try and get my Brizio built street rod out of the garage. Shelley had gotten all the important stuff and all of our family possessions out yesterday and my Mom is headed to Vegas with the kids right now to take over to my brother's house."

There are other problems facing the Capps family.

"Taylor has asthma and the air quality is very bad here and getting worse by the minute. Shelley and I are gonna hang here for another night in the hotel and hope for the best
before we have to eventually drive to Vegas for my appearance Wednesday afternoon at the Monaco Las Vegas.

"There are people a lot worse off than we are right now, I just want to give thanks all the different fire departments, the CDF and the National Guard."

Capps says the firefighters are always supported, but until one sees them in action, like now, they're like school teachers, w-a-ay underrated.

"Hopefully I'll have some good news to update as the week goes on. I am really looking for good news this weekend when Sunday rolls around."

Dn Prudhomme has a house in the path of the fires and associate Skip Alum said there is no apparent damage at this point.
