Jack Beckman made test laps yesterday under the guidance of veteran Whit Bazemore. Beckman drove the Matco Tools car to a 4.9-second run at 310 on his first full run. He smoked the tires at half-track on his second attempt.

From what our sources at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis tell us, today they will finish up the license runs and even go for 4.70s at 320 miles per hour. If they are successful, Beckman will be in the car from Reading until the end of the season.
