Skillman confirmed to Competition Plus Monday, he will be driving a limited Pro Stock schedule in 2015 and will be a teammate with reigning world champion Erica Enders-Stevens at Elite Motorsports.

“We’ve been talking back and forth for about two years and of course if you race NHRA, you want to run Pro Stock,” Skillman, 26, said. “I am so excited to have this opportunity and I’m excited to be Erica’s teammate. She has been great as far getting me started and giving me some stuff to think about. She’s been really, really helpful.”

Skillman said he will be driving a 2015 Camaro in the upcoming season and plans to run around 15 national events.

“We just got the car finished up about two weeks ago,” Skillman said. “Our big sponsor is Ray Skillman Chevrolet (in Indianapolis).”

Ray Skillman is Drew’s grandfather and a longtime racer. Bill Skillman, Drew’s father, also competes in NHRA.

Drew spent the last five years competing in Sportsman racing, competing in Stock, Super Stock and Competition Eliminator.

Then sometime in mid-January we will be down in Bradenton (Fla., Motorsports Park) testing. I love bracket racing and I spent the last five years obsessed with it, but I’m excited to do some heads-up racing. That’s what real drag racing comes down to and I’m so excited to get a chance to do it. Right now, I think we are going to start at the Winternationals, it just depends how the test session goes.”

The 2015 NHRA season begins Feb. 5-8 at the Winternationals in Pomona, Calif.

Drew said Mark Ingersoll, and the father and son duo of Rick Jones and Rickie Jones are going to serve as his crew chiefs. Ingersoll was a longtime crew chief for Allen Johnson, and he guided Johnson and Jeg Coughlin Jr. to the 2012 and 2013 Pro Stock world championships, respectively.

“Drew seems like a super cool guy and I watched him drive his Stocker in Pomona and he just seems really smooth and I’m excited to work with him and the whole Skillman family,” Rickie Jones said. “They are great people and I have a gut feeling that Drew is going to be a natural behind the wheel.”
