shop fire 02John Dearmore, long-time Top Fuel car owner, Nostalgia T/F crew chief, and president of DRE Racing, suffered a devastating fire October 10 that completely destroyed his machine shop.

John is a manufacturer of valve train components for the Chrysler-based Hemi engines as well as Ford and small and big block Chevrolet engines. His products are found on everything from Top Fuel to Pro Mod and Pro Stock to cackle cars.

The fire not only destroyed all of his files, fixtures, inspection equipment, micrometers, a 50-year collection of tools and parts, specialized tooling and machinery – CNC machines, lathes, etc. – but also the structure itself.  The operation was John and his wife’s sole source of income and, since unfortunately there was no insurance in place at the time, it is an absolute tragedy for the couple.

John is also an extremely capable chassis builder, as evidenced by his re-creation of the S.P.E.-chassied car he raced in the early 1970s.  He (along with his stepson, Alan) was also about to expand the business to include a full-fledged chassis shop at his Alba, Texas shop.

Anyone who has any machinery or tools, such as a lathe, milling machine, tube bender, T.I.G. welder, etc. that they would donate or sell at a good price so that John can get back up and running and carry out planned and contracted chassis work – both new and restorations – please contact him at (903) 474-3568 or john@dreracing.com.  If his line is busy or he isn’t able to answer, you can call Connell Miller at (479) 283-7414 or Paul Caster (903) 821-8000 (or p.m. either of us on Facebook) and we’ll get your message to him.
