Willowbank Raceway will host a two day meeting at Easter followed by the Sydney X-Champs in early May before the season finale at Willowbank Raceway on June 4-7.

All four Pro categories will only appear together at the X-Champs and Willowbank Winternationals.

“The 2015 season calendar has been one of the most discussed and rumored releases over the past 6 months,” according to ANDRA. “Although somewhat problematic in regards to timing, the 2015/16 calendar has been assessed and discussed with more stakeholders than ever before. That said the overwhelming majority of tracks and stakeholders were in favour of returning to the financial year, which had the finals at Willowbank Raceway. 2015 will see a January to June season culminating at the 2015 Winternationals.”

The return of Group One racing to Calder Park Raceway in 2015 is unclear. ANDRA cancelled the final round of this season, scheduled for December, citing the need to upgrade the race track and return road. A 2015 round at Calder in mid January has been mooted but is unlikely due to sizzling summer temperatures at that time of the year and doubts if the track upgrades will be finished in time.

“The decision to dump the twelve month calendar and go with a six month season is a victory for common sense,” according to one team-owner. “From the Winternationals in June until Adelaide next week the sport disappears off the radar for four months. The NHRA season runs from February to November but they have the teams, spectators and sponsors to support their program. A winter break  doesn’t work for drag racing for Australia. It’s good to see ANDRA take the initiative and make the call.”
