John Force and Ron Capps will have their Brainerd score settled during the Q2 session in Indianapolis during the NHRA U.S. Nationals. The victory could provide the jumpstart for one of the two to possibly win three events over the course of the weekend if they can also gather in victories during the Traxxas Funny Car Shootout on Sunday, and Monday's Indy title.

"It will be a little bit different and there's no bigger stage than Indianapolis," Capps said. "All the crew guys live there, our DSR shop is two miles from the track, and it would be great to take the Brainerd trophy and march it right over to the shop and put it with the rest of the 230 plus trophies Don (Schumacher) has at the shop."

Though Force and Capps could win big in Indy, the 16-time Funny Car champion believes the Brainerd fans deserve recognition for their perseverance.

“The fans really hung with us today which made it special," said Force. "I have won this race 11 times and we are going to have to run it off in Indy. I’ll be racing a great friend of mine Ron Capps. We were both excited. DeJoria did a great job running that 3.99. She and DeLago have a great thing going. My car ran in the threes, but I keep cheating that light and trying to make sure I get those wins. I am excited and I want to thank all the people that spent time with me this weekend."

Capps was disappointed the race couldn't finish on a day most seasoned veterans described as strange due to it's considerably cooler conditions and persistent rain. The race was cancelled after Funny Car had completed its semi-final round, and the ensuing Top Fuel final produced an oildown just as a steady mist of rain fell.

"It's a little bittersweet because this place has become like family to me," Capps said after his semifinal win at Brainerd. "We've run so well here winning the last two years and going to the final the year before that. I'm bummed that we can't run the final in front of these passionate fans that stuck around all day. If you put together a week in the Zoo and being in the grandstands all weekend and with the rain today, these are some of the best fans we have on the circuit."
