REAL PRO MOD ASSOCIATION DEFINES GOALS FOR 2014

pmThe Real Pro Modified Association, a group of Pro Modified racers who race in the fast doorslammer class under the NHRA sanction, defined their goals recently at a press conference in Indianapolis.

“I think it’s the most exciting racing venue there is on the planet,” said Harry Hruska, an RPM board member said. “With the different power adders of nitrous, turbos and blowers … racers switching over from one power adder to another and learning how to drive other combinations. The fastest doorslammers in the world are going to be racing in these venues.

John Waldie, series spokesperson, addressed a standing room only crowd assembled in the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show press center.

Waldie confirmed the NHRA RPM Series will broadcast a 10-episode series in reality show format on the Velocity Network beginning in the fall and concluding around the NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas. The goal is to run this series in conjunction with the sweeps week for higher television broadcast ratings.

The NHRA RPM Series was challenged by the NHRA President to find seven event sponsors. The NHRA committed to sponsoring the remaining three which they will in 2014. Among the sponsorship programs, Jegs will sponsor the NHRA U.S. Nationals and new to drag racing sponsor Off Wire, through their PowerRocks will sponsor both the Englishtown and Charlotte2 events. Other sponsors include Precision Turbo [St. Louis] and Aeromotive [Las Vegas] will pick up events. JNA Energy will sponsor the Houston event.

Waldie confirmed the one schedule change from the 2013 season will have the Pro Modifieds return to the NHRA Summit Southern Nationals instead of running the NHRA 4-Wide event.

“We wanted to make Pro Modified defined as racing two at a time,” said Waldie.

The NHRA RPM group has signed 53 contingency sponsors with a total commitment in excess of $300,000.
