EDWARDS WILL RUN COUNTDOWN, NO SUB DRIVER NEEDED

Mike Edwards will race through the pain of a torn rotator cuff. This comes from a statement provided to CompetitionPlus.com regarding rumors suggesting the two-time NHRA champion will step aside for another driver in order to heal the injury.

"We wanted to put to rest any rumors that Mike Edwards has any plans of having another driver in the seat the remainder of the season," said Edwards wife Lisa.

"We wanted to put to rest any rumors that Mike Edwards has any plans of having another driver in the seat the remainder of the season," said Edwards wife Lisa.

"Mike has spoken with doctors and together they have developed a plan of action that he will receive treatment on his shoulder that will allow him to continue to drive his Interstate Batteries Camaro throughout the Countdown," she said. "He has NO intention of getting out of the car. The only focus is winning a second Pro Stock championship. In fact, today and tomorrow, he is in Charlotte testing for the upcoming race."

Edwards has no idea how or when the injury occurred.

“We have absolutely no idea what caused the injury. The doctor said it sometimes just happens by pure accident. Have no idea what caused it, but it has been a few weeks and just irritated during Indy."
