Schumacher said the notification has enabled him to begin looking for a new sponsor to go on the side of the world’s quickest and fastest dragster piloted by Spencer Massey.

“We are aggressively searching right now,” said Schumacher. “We hope to have one for 2013.”

Schumacher said his contract was through 2012 with an option to renew for an additional season in 2013.

“The just chose not to pick up the option,” Schumacher said. “They have just decided to leave this market. That’s all I know.”

Honeywell sold its automotive consumer products group to the Rank Group in January 2011, a New Zealand private investment firm, in a cash deal valued at $950 million.
