THE DOORSLAMMERS ARE TESTING IN BRADENTON

While their nitro brethren are just a few hours down the interstate in southern Florida, a gathering of doorslammers are putting their carbs and gasoline [and nitrous, in some instances] through the paces in Badenton, Fla., just outside of Tampa.
There are nine NHRA Pro Stockers, three ADRL Pro Nitrous entries, an ADRL Extreme Pro Stocker and one Pro Stock Motorcycle getting back into the groove for the upcoming season.

The quickest NHRA Pro Stock run of the day belonged to Richie Stevens, driving for the convalescing Allen Johnson, with a 6.485elapsed time at 212.26 miles per hour. He was followed by the Ford driven by Larry Morgan with a 6.500,211.26. Erica Enders laid down a 6.559,209.55.
Stevens, also driving his ADRL XPS Mustang, ran a 4.025, 178.78.
Mike Castellana was the quicker of the two Pro Nitrous cars with a 3.945, 191.28.
There were tense moments as bike rider Michael Phillips wrecked his Suzuki. He walked away from the accident.
Testing will resume today.
