NEIGHBOR DISCUSSES NMCA CRASH

Kurt Neighbor walked away from a crash at the recently completed NMCA Finals in Indianapolis. He was racing against D.W. Hopkins in the final round of Indy Cylinder Head Nostalgia Super Stock when they got together and crashed.

“He (Hopkins) was in front of me, and then right before the finish line got on the brakes really hard," said Neighbor. "Just past the finish line there is an area that is pretty dark, and then you pop back out into the light again. It was at this point I noticed his fender, then door and then he hit me. The impact kept him from slamming head-on into the wall, and actually straightened his car out. Unfortunately for me, it sent me into the wall in his place. I remember thinking to myself that I was at five then 10 then 25 and then 45-degrees up on my side before the car stopped climbing the wall and then shot off to the other side of the track where it hit that wall there. It was a hard lick for sure."

Other than a sore hand, Neighbor said he was fine. The car however, is in pretty rough shape.

“The only thing on the body that’s not been destroyed is the left rear quarter and the roof,” Neighbor said. “I need to find a donor car and I need to find one fast. The NMCA opener in Bradenton is just a few months away and I’ve got a job to get done before then."
