The competition license of NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster racer Monroe Guest has been revoked for one year, and the participation privileges of vehicle owner Todd Odom and crew chief Joe Monden, have been revoked for one year, following an incident in the first round of eliminations at the NHRA Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

 

The competition license of NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster racer Monroe Guest has been revoked for one year, and the participation privileges of vehicle owner Todd Odom and crew chief Joe Monden, have been revoked for one year, following an incident in the first round of eliminations at the NHRA Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

The action against these participants arises from the fact that the team ran tires that, per the manufacturer, were not to be used. Both rear tires failed resulting in a serious two-car incident.

Running the tires despite explicit directions to the contrary from the manufacturer caused actual damage, delay and expense, and put everyone on the scene, including participants, spectators and emergency responders, at risk, and violated several NHRA rules.

Because of the severe and serious nature of this situation, all three team participants (owner, driver and crew chief) are prohibited from competing in any NHRA event, including without limitation driving, working on the crew, and/or being a full or partial owner of any vehicle that competes.

These actions against participants are appealable pursuant to the NHRA Rulebook.
