Ernie Wrenn has made a name in drag racing by repeatedly stepping outside the norm.

In the 1980s, he raced in the IHRA Nitro Funny Car division with an alcohol-burning, nitrous-injected flopper. Then he built a very odd 1970 Chevrolet C-10 pick-up truck to participate in the growing Top Sportsman [pre-Pro Mod] movement.

For Wrenn, the circus is back in town.

Wrenn, the owner of Compucar Nitrous Systems, has a 1996 Fleetwood Hearse which he bills as the "World's Fastest Street Legal Ride".

This unique ride is powered by a LS-1 with a powerglide and also features the creature comforts of power steering, stereo and air conditioning. The hearse also sports 250 feet of tubing and dual six-point harnesses.

To ensure he remains the world's fastest, Wrenn has chosen a special power adder in case the competition gets close.

Resting in the rear where a coffin would normally be is a Westinghouse J-34 jet engine producing approx 25,000 H/P with afterburner.The fuel usage is 1 gal per 5 foot under FULL POWER and 4 gallons per minute at idle. Wrenn estimates the machine will run as fast as 225 mph.

Essentially on this car everything from the front door forward is a Fully loaded hearse. From the side door back is a F-4 Phantom fighter.

Did we really expect anything different from Wrenn?
